A treatment room at J'adoreAESTHETIC MEDICINE
A face that "thins" with age — hollow cheeks, sunken temples, a sagging contour, thinner and less springy skin. This isn't caused by expression lines.
It's collagen and volume loss, and neither Botox nor a cream will fix it. Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) biostimulator, and it works quite differently from a filler: instead of adding gel for instant volume, it triggers your skin's own repair process — over weeks and months, it rebuilds your own collagen. The effect is slow, invisible to those around you, and remarkably lasting. People notice "you look great" rather than "you've had something done." At J'adore Instytut, the treatment is performed by a doctor or experienced cosmetologist. Below you'll find everything worth knowing before your first visit — including why Sculptra requires patience, and what the famous "5-5-5" massage is all about.
a series of several sessions every few weeks plus maintenance
How it works
Sculptra is a biostimulator based on poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) — a material medicine has relied on for years (including in surgical threads and resorbable implants), fully biocompatible and absorbable. It's one specific product, not a category spanning many brands — which is precisely why the protocol and the practitioner's technique matter so much here.
Here's the key point: Sculptra doesn't fill. When PLLA microparticles are placed into the deeper layers of the skin, they act as a gentle, controlled "signal" — your skin recognises them and, in response, triggers its own repair process: it stimulates fibroblasts to produce new, native collagen (this is known as neocollagenesis). The product itself is fully absorbed over time. What remains — and creates the result — is collagen your own skin has built.
That's why the effect builds gradually — at the pace your body rebuilds collagen. Over time, it restores density, firmness and subtle, natural volume wherever tissue has "dropped". Sculptra's hallmark is slow build-up and lasting results: the effect appears more slowly than with other treatments, but it lasts longer than any other stimulating treatment.

Ideal for
This is most often skin aged 35–40 and over, once natural collagen production slows noticeably. Sculptra calls for patience — it suits someone who understands the effect will arrive over months, but will then last a long time. A specialist determines qualification, the number of sessions and the treatment areas after assessing your face.
For her and for him
The goal is most often gradual rebuilding of the contour, cheeks and overall skin density — a soft, imperceptible rejuvenation that can allow you to postpone thoughts of stronger treatments. This is classic Sculptra for women: restoring "fullness" and freshness to the face without changing your features.
The areas we support
For men, this means a discreet strengthening of structure — skin density, subtle definition along the jawline and chin, rebuilding hollow cheeks without any feminising effect. This is Sculptra for men: an effect so gradual and cumulative that people notice you're "in better shape" or "well rested" — not that you've had a treatment.
The areas we support
Interesting fact: PLLA, the material Sculptra is made from, is the same type of material used in some absorbable surgical threads relied on in medicine for decades. In aesthetics, it doesn't "fill" — it acts as a signal telling your skin: "time to rebuild collagen." Your own body does the rest.
Safety
With Sculptra, more than with many other treatments, the result and its safety depend on technique and protocol, not on "brand" — because there's only one product. Here's what's worth asking about at any salon:
At J'adore, the treatment is performed by a doctor or experienced cosmetologist trained in working with poly-L-lactic acid. Where medical concerns arise, the client is referred to a doctor.
Sculptra is a powder that must be properly reconstituted (dissolved and evenly suspended) well in advance — this determines even distribution and safety.
We use only genuine, certified product from legal distribution channels. Where it comes from and how it's stored matter just as much as technique.
The "5-5-5" massage is a mandatory part of the protocol — a good salon will show you exactly how to do it before you leave.
Warning sign: suspiciously cheap Sculptra · With a product in this class, a bargain price is the most common warning sign — it usually means a compromise somewhere: material quality, suspension preparation, or the practitioner's experience. You have every right to ask about the product's name, how it was prepared, and who's performing the treatment. A good salon will answer without hesitation.
What to expect during your visit
From our specialist's chair
I repeat the same line most often: "massage isn't a skincare bonus — it's part of the treatment." Clients who diligently do the "5-5-5" get the most even results and the lowest risk of nodules. I show exactly how much pressure to use — it's genuinely simple, but it has to be done.
Contraindications
Some contraindications are permanent (or need individual assessment), and some are temporary — in that case, we simply postpone the treatment until the situation passes.
From our specialist's chair
With Sculptra, there are two things I always discuss especially candidly: a tendency towards nodules or keloid scarring, and your readiness to actually do the massage. If someone tells me they won't be doing the massage, or has a history of nodules after previous treatments, I'd rather suggest a different treatment than risk the result.
This isn't a complete list — we'll go through your medications, medical history and previous treatments individually at your consultation (with a referral to a doctor where medical concerns arise).

What to expect
Here's the key point: you won't see the real result straight away. Right after the treatment, your skin may look slightly "filled" or "fuller" — but this is swelling and fluid from the product, NOT the final result. This initial "look of volume" fades within a day or two as the fluid is absorbed, and your face may temporarily return to how it looked before. This is normal and part of the mechanism — the real work is only just beginning.
Some clients write to me after a week: "I was swollen, and now it's all gone — it didn't work!" I explain: what swelled and subsided was fluid, not the result. Sculptra is only just starting its work — your collagen builds over weeks. That's why we assess it after months, and after the whole series, not after a few days.
The effect is cumulative: each session in the series builds on the last. In return for your patience, the result lasts an exceptionally long time — the longest among stimulating treatments.

Sculptra and your daily life
The first few days are mainly about diligent massage and giving your skin some quiet time. There's one rule: don't do anything that worsens swelling or bruising, while still distributing the product evenly each day.
This is the most important part of your entire aftercare: around five minutes, five times a day, for five days. Not optional — mandatory. Your specialist will show you how much pressure to use.
Training before the treatment doesn't block anything. After the treatment, skip intense exercise for the first few days — significantly increased circulation encourages swelling and bruising.
High temperatures dilate blood vessels and increase swelling. Sauna, hammam, hot baths, swimming pools — best left for a day or two.
Hold off on intense sun exposure and sunbeds for the first few days. After that, no restrictions — provided you use daily SPF 50+.
Alcohol dilates blood vessels and increases the risk of bruising — best avoided the day before and the day after your visit.
Makeup usually from the following day, over gently cleansed skin. Stop strong acids and retinol a few days before the treatment, and return to them only after the series.
Sculptra
These three are often confused because they all "rejuvenate" — but they do completely different things, which is exactly why they often complement one another. The key difference is patience and exactly what they rebuild:
slow rebuilding of your own collagen
won't give instant results, won't precisely sculpt a single point, won't relax expression lines
adds volume here and now
doesn't stimulate your own collagen across whole areas; works locally and for a shorter time
hydration and skin quality
doesn't rebuild volume like Sculptra and doesn't fill in specific spots like a filler
Combine with
Sculptra can serve as the "foundation" of a broader plan — it builds structure and density, to which other treatments are added a few weeks in (once your own collagen starts forming). Your specialist decides on order and timing during consultation, but the general logic stays the same:
I explain it simply: Sculptra = slow collagen rebuilding, lasts the longest; HA filler = instant, targeted volume; Profhilo = hydration and skin quality. If someone wants "cheeks by tomorrow for a wedding" — that's not Sculptra, that's filler. If someone wants to rebuild their face for years to come and has the time — that's Sculptra.
The product
Unlike Botox or HA fillers, where you choose from many brands, Sculptra is one specific product. You don't choose it "off a shelf" — what matters is that it's genuine PLLA, correctly prepared and administered by an experienced practitioner. For clarity, here's what the product itself is, and how it differs from related biostimulators.
Genuine biostimulator in powder form for reconstitution; stimulates your own collagen (neocollagenesis). Longest-lasting among stimulating treatments.
Dla kogoBroad, gradual rebuilding of density and volume: cheeks, temples, contour.
A different group — bioremodelling and skin hydration (e.g. Profhilo). Doesn't rebuild volume like PLLA; it works on "condition".
Dla kogoSkin quality, hydration and springiness; often alternated with Sculptra.
Regeneration and improved skin condition from within. A complement to PLLA, not a substitute.
Dla kogoRegeneration, thin and tired-looking skin; added into a Sculptra plan at intervals.
Fact: Why do prices differ? It comes down to the quality and origin of the product, the number of sessions in the series (worth costing for the whole process, not a single visit), and the demanding protocol — correct reconstitution, choosing the right depth and precise technique all require experience. Because Sculptra lasts the longest among biostimulators, the cost worked out "per month" often compares favourably despite the higher cost of the series. We work out exact pricing and a financial plan at your consultation.
