Cheeks hollow, temples "thin out", the facial contour blurs. Folds deepen not because the skin is "wrinkled", but because there's nothing left to support it. Volumetry doesn't smooth a single line. It rebuilds the scaffolding of the whole face with dense hyaluronic acid, supporting it "from within". Done well, it's invisible in action. It doesn't "add" foreign volume — it restores proportions. Volumetry is the restoration of volume and structural support in the face using dense, strongly supportive hyaluronic acid. With age, we lose not only collagen but also volume — fat tissue, and even bone. The face "drops": cheeks hollow, the contour blurs, and folds deepen. Volumetry gives these structures back, supporting the face "from within".
This is different from smoothing a single wrinkle. Here, the work goes deeper and more structurally — rebuilding the "scaffolding" (cheeks, temples, jawline, chin) that the whole face relies on. That's why denser gels with greater lifting capacity are used than for folds or lips. Like any HA filler, it's reversible.
How it works
Volumetry works deeper than any smoothing treatment — the dense gel is usually placed close to the bone, on the periosteum, or in deep fat compartments. That's exactly where support is lost with age. The product doesn't spread through the skin. Instead, it creates focused, stable pillars that the layers above rest on. That's why lifting the cheek shallows a nasolabial fold without touching the fold itself — the whole tissue that had been sagging onto it is lifted instead. The depth of placement, the areas treated, the amount of product and the tool used — cannula or needle — are all decided by the doctor during consultation, after assessing the proportions of the whole face and confirming medical suitability. This is a medical treatment where anatomy dictates everything.
Whether a gel can support tissue depends on its density and elasticity. The higher these are, the more resistance the gel offers and the better it supports — but it also needs to be placed deeper, so it doesn't show through thin skin. There's a second mechanism at play too: hyaluronic acid binds water, so freshly injected product swells and gives more volume than the final result for the first few days — that's swelling and gel hydration, not the outcome yet. Over time, the material is absorbed naturally, broken down by tissue enzymes, and the face gradually returns to its starting point. In areas with less movement — like the cheekbone or jawline — this happens more slowly than where muscles work constantly, which is why results usually last longer than around the lips, though this varies from person to person.
Did you know: the word "volumetry" doesn't come from aesthetic medicine — it's an old term simply meaning measuring volume. The Latin volumen originally meant "scroll" (from volvere — to roll), and it was the thickness of such a scroll that gave the word its later meaning of volume. In analytical chemistry, volumetry is still a classic method for determining the quantity of a substance. In the salon, the name is used quite literally: first we measure how much volume has been lost, then we decide how much to give back.

The plan always addresses the whole face and its proportions — that's the key to a natural result. Volumetry isn't a single injection "where it shows". It's carefully thought-through rebuilding.
Women's areas and men's areas
The goal is most often to rebuild the "triangle of youth" — lifting and rounding the cheeks, softly supporting the contour, gently defining the jaw and chin. Result: a rested, lifted face, with the same character. This is classic volumetry for women.

Here the goal is different: a strong, defined jawline, a well-marked "masculine" chin and a striking structure — without feminising the features. Denser products and a more "architectural" approach to the contour are typically used. This is volumetry for men.

Did you know: it's estimated that from around age 25, the face loses roughly a "teaspoon" of volume every year. That's why, with age, we often look tired despite a good night's sleep — it's not wrinkles, it's lack of support. Volumetry addresses exactly this cause.
Safety
Volumetry is "structural" — dense gel is injected deep, into heavily vascularised areas (cheeks, temples, jaw). That's why the result and its safety come down to things worth asking about at any salon:
Volumetry is administered exclusively by an aesthetic medicine doctor, never a cosmetologist. The doctor understands vascular anatomy, plans the rebuilding, and takes responsibility for any correction needed.
For deep support, the standard is often a cannula — blunt-tipped, so it moves around vessels more easily than a sharp needle, lowering the most serious (though rare) vascular risk. A hyaluronidase enzyme (which dissolves HA) should always be available on site.
We use only genuine HA gels from authorised distributors. HA is reversible — it can be dissolved if needed. That's a real "safety net" that many other methods don't offer.
Warning sign: suspiciously cheap volumetry · Volumetry usually needs more product than correcting a single fold — a bargain price for "full contour rebuilding" is one of the most common warning signs. It might mean a gel of unknown origin, too little product, or a lack of experience with deep placement. You're entitled to ask about the product name, who performs the treatment, and whether hyaluronidase is available on site. A good salon will answer without hesitation.

Contraindications
Some contraindications are permanent or need individual assessment, while others are temporary — in that case, we simply postpone the treatment until the situation resolves.
From the doctor's chair
The most serious, though rare, risk with volumetry is vascular complications — that's why an experienced doctor, cannula technique and a genuine, reversible product matter so much. This isn't the place for the cheapest offer "from the internet".

What to expect
Most importantly: the result is visible immediately, but swelling dominates the first few days. Your face right after the treatment isn't yet the "final version" — the product needs time to settle into the tissue.
Some patients write the next day saying "my cheeks are too big." That's almost always swelling, not the product. That's why we assess the result only at the follow-up around 2 weeks later — earlier "corrections" usually aren't needed.
The result lasts a long time (usually 12–18 months), because rebuilt areas move less — dense gel in the cheek or jaw "works" more slowly than in the lips. And if the result isn't quite right for you, HA is reversible.

Volumetry and your lifestyle
Most questions aren't about the treatment itself, but about afterwards: training, sauna, sleeping, facial massage. There's one rule — in the first few days, we don't want to shift the freshly placed gel or worsen swelling and bruising.
This matters: don't massage or apply pressure to the rebuilt areas for the first few days — the fresh gel could shift before it settles.
Training before the treatment doesn't block anything. After the treatment, skip intense exercise for around a day — faster circulation encourages swelling and bruising.
High temperatures and chlorine dilate blood vessels and worsen swelling. Sauna, hammam, pool, hot baths — best to wait a few days.
Hold off on intense sunbathing, sunbeds and sharp cold at first. Day to day, use SPF 50+ every day.
If cheeks or jawline have been rebuilt, sleep on your back for the first few nights, avoiding pressure on the face from a pillow.
Light makeup is usually fine from the following day. Hold off on facial massage and Kobido for around two weeks. Skip alcohol on the day of the treatment and the day after.
