AESTHETIC MEDICINE

Tightening and density
“a mesh in the skin”

Skin starts to "let go" before it actually sags. It first loses firmness, density and elasticity — and the contour becomes less defined.

This isn't yet the stage for a strong lift, but you can already tell that "something is slipping". Needle Shaping addresses exactly this moment: your doctor inserts a dense mesh of very fine, smooth monofilament threads under the skin. It lightly tightens the tissue straight away, then gradually stimulates the skin to produce its own collagen. This isn't a dramatic "lift in a day" — it's work on quality, density and subtle contour, and its value shows gradually. At J'adore Instytut, the treatment is performed by an aesthetic medicine doctor. Below you'll find everything worth knowing before your first visit.

  • Mild, early-stage laxity
  • Thin, "tired", low-elasticity skin
  • Subtle contour remodelling
  • Skin that has lost some firmness
  • Skin after pregnancy or weight loss
  • Support for uneven texture
  • Prevention
  • A natural, gradual effect

How it works

How it works

Needle Shaping involves inserting a dense mesh of very fine, smooth monofilament threads (most often PDO) under the skin. Unlike classic thread lifting, these threads have no micro-barbs or cones — they don't "pull" the tissue upward. Placed densely and crosswise, they form a kind of internal scaffold that tightens and thickens the skin from within.

The effect works in two ways. Physical — the mesh provides gentle support that immediately tightens and refines the tissue. Biological — the presence of the threads stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen, which builds up along their path. Over time, the threads are fully absorbed, leaving behind a denser, better-supported collagen structure in the skin. This structure sustains the result long after the threads themselves have disappeared.

The most common misconception worth clarifying: Needle Shaping is not a "strong lift in a day". It's work on skin quality, firmness and subtle contour, and its value shows gradually as the skin builds collagen. It's a medical treatment, not a cosmetic one — and we treat it that way.

Three layers in cross-section: the epidermis at the surface, the dermis beneath it, and deepest of all the subcutaneous layer. Fine needles lay a dense, crossing mesh of threads beneath the dermis; the epidermis stays untouched. The doctor chooses the level at which the threads sit during the consultation.
  1. Epidermisthe surface the thread leaves intact
  2. Dermisthe layer the cannula is guided through
  3. Subcutaneous layerthe level the thread is placed at

Ideal for

Ideal for

  1. Mild, early-stage laxityloss of firmness before the contour has actually sagged.
  2. Thin, "tired", low-elasticity skinwhen you want more density and better quality.
  3. Subtle contour remodellingthe oval of the face, cheeks, jawline, chin, neck.
  4. Skin that has lost some firmness, but hasn't sagged enough yet to need a strong lift.
  5. Skin after pregnancy or weight losswhen you need firming and density, not volume.
  6. Support for uneven texturefor example, minor acne marks, as part of a plan to improve skin quality.
  7. Preventionto strengthen and thicken the skin before laxity sets in.
  8. A natural, gradual effectfor anyone who doesn't want a "done" look.
  9. When sagging is already noticeable, barbed (cog) threads or tightening treatments are often a better choice — your doctor will assess this at consultation.

Women's skin and men's skin

What's different

For her

Your skin, your contour — on your own terms

Most often, it's work on facial firmness and skin density, along with subtle contouring of the oval, jawline and neck — a "better skin quality" effect without visible intervention. This is classic Needle Shaping for women.

The areas we support

  1. facial contour, cheeks, jawline and neck — firmness and density;
  2. subtle contour remodelling without adding volume;
  3. skin support after pregnancy or weight loss (loss of firmness);
  4. part of a "skin quality and firmness" plan alongside injectable biostimulators or subtle volumetry.
For him

Skin that looks like you — just a better version

Discreet strengthening of skin and contour — improved firmness, density and texture without changing your facial character, meeting the common expectation of full naturalness. This is Needle Shaping for men.

The areas we support

  1. jawline and cheeks — when skin starts to lose firmness;
  2. facial contour and neck — "well-groomed, not done";
  3. improved texture and density without a "smoothed-over" look;
  4. short downtime — a quick return to daily life.

Worth knowing: the real result here isn't the thread itself, but what's left behind after it. The threads are fully absorbed within a few months, leaving behind newly built collagen arranged along their former path — it's this collagen, not the thread, that sustains the result.

Safety

What really determines the result

With Needle Shaping, the effect and safety depend on three things worth asking about at any salon:

  1. Who performs it

    This is a medical treatment involving skin penetration — at J'adore it's performed only by an aesthetic medicine doctor. Inserting the thread mesh requires knowledge of anatomy, precise technique and correct qualification based on a thorough consultation. This isn't a treatment done "on the side".

  2. Whether the threads are genuine

    We use only certified threads from authorised distributors, in fully sterile conditions. Safety and effectiveness depend on the purity and origin of the material.

  3. Which threads, how many and where

    There's no single "mesh for everyone". Your doctor selects the type of threads, their number and density individually, after assessing your skin and goal — which is why a consultation is mandatory.

A red flag: a suspiciously cheap thread treatment · A bargain price is the most common warning sign — in a treatment that penetrates the skin, the origin of the material and sterile conditions matter just as much as the technique. You have every right to ask about the type of threads, their origin, and who performs the treatment. A good salon will answer without hesitation.

AESTHETIC MEDICINE

What to expect during your visit

  1. Medical consultationyour doctor assesses skin quality, firmness and thickness, the degree of laxity, and your expectations, then selects the thread type and plans the mesh pattern. They also take a thorough history (including cold sores, keloid tendency and medications affecting blood clotting).
  2. Local anaesthesiafor full comfort while the threads are inserted.
  3. Mapping and thread insertionyour doctor inserts the dense mesh of thin, smooth threads using a fine cannula or needle, covering the planned area evenly and checking symmetry. The threads are arranged crosswise to create a stable "scaffold".
  4. Guidance and finishing upthe whole session usually takes about an hour; you'll return to daily activities quickly, though temporary swelling or redness may be visible for 1–2 days.
  5. Follow-up planusually one session is enough, with the option of a top-up after about a year, depending on skin quality and expectations.

Contraindications

When to postpone the treatment

Some contraindications are permanent (or require individual qualification), while others are temporary — in that case, we simply postpone the treatment until the situation resolves.

We don't perform it
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Tendency to form keloids or hypertrophic scarsrequires careful qualification.
  • Autoimmune diseases in an active flare
  • Clotting disorders and anticoagulant medicationsthe decision rests with your doctor.
  • Active cancer or ongoing oncological treatmentindividual qualification.
  • Skin conditions within the planned area, and active inflammation or unhealed wounds.
  • Active cold sores (Herpes)even in a location other than the injection site (for example, on the lip or near the nose), not just on the treated area. We wait until it has fully healed.
  • Recent isotretinoin treatmentrequires an appropriate waiting period.
  • Fever and general infectionwe wait until you've recovered.

From the doctor's chair

The most commonly forgotten issue: cold sores. People often think "it's only on my lips, and the threads go into my cheeks — so it shouldn't matter." It does matter — an active virus is a risk, regardless of where it appears. It's better to postpone by a few days.

This isn't a complete list — we'll go through your medications, health conditions and previous treatments individually at consultation.

What to expect

No surprises

Most importantly: you won't see the full effect straight away. Slight tightening may be noticeable almost immediately, but the treatment's real value builds over time — as collagen forms along the threads over the following weeks.

  1. Faza 1.1–2 daysredness and swelling settle; return to daily life
  2. Faza 2.first weeksskin builds new collagen — firmness and density increase
  3. Faza 3.after a few weeksfull, natural result; threads gradually absorb
  4. Faza 4.around a year to eighteen monthsthe built collagen sustains the result — a top-up is possible
Some clients tell us, a few days in, that they "don't feel much difference". This is completely normal — Needle Shaping needs time, because it works through collagen, not instant tightening. We assess the result after a few weeks, not right after leaving the salon.
From the doctor's chair

What's normal right after the treatment

  • redness and slight swelling — usually settle within one to two days;
  • small bruises at the injection points (the fine needle can hit a tiny blood vessel) — easy to cover, fading within a few days;
  • temporary awareness of the threads under the skin, especially with facial movement — this fades over time.

The effect lasts long after the threads have been absorbed — it's the collagen structure that's built up, not the threads themselves, that sustains the result. This treatment suits people who value a natural, gradual effect and understand that it reaches its full potential over time.

Needle Shaping and your lifestyle

What and when

The most common questions aren't about the treatment itself, but about what comes afterwards: training, sauna, facial massage, sleep. The rule is simple — for the first days and weeks, we protect the freshly placed mesh, so the threads integrate well and the tissue doesn't bruise.

  1. Facial massage and Kobido

    wait about 2 weeks

    This matters: don't massage your face for about 14 days, until the mesh has integrated. Schedule contouring massage or Kobido only after this period, so you don't displace the fresh threads.

  2. Strong facial expressions and grimacing

    with care for a few days

    For the first few days, avoid wide grimaces and strong facial expressions — let the mesh settle into the tissue.

  3. Sleep

    first nights on your back

    For the first few nights, sleep on your back so you don't press on or shift the freshly treated area.

  4. Gym and exercise

    wait a few days

    Training before the treatment doesn't block anything. After the treatment, skip intense exercise for a few days — significantly increased circulation encourages bruising and swelling.

  5. Sauna and hot baths

    a few days' break

    High temperature dilates blood vessels and increases swelling. Sauna, hammam, hot baths — best left for a few days.

  6. Sun and sunbeds

    avoid, then use SPF

    Postpone intense sunbathing and sunbeds for a few days. After that, no restrictions — provided you use daily SPF 50+.

  7. Medications that increase bleeding

    in consultation with your doctor

    Before the treatment, it's worth stopping — in consultation with your doctor, a few days beforehand — medications that increase bleeding, to reduce the risk of bruising.

  8. Makeup and daily life

    quick return

    You'll return to daily activities quickly. Don't press on or rub the area in the first few days; postpone makeup and facial treatments (peels, strong acids, devices) until healed, as advised by your doctor.

Needle Shaping

Frequently asked questions

  1. QuestionIs the effect immediate?
    AnswerSlight tightening can be noticeable straight away, but the full effect builds over several weeks — as collagen forms along the threads. This treatment delivers a gradual result, not an instant one.
  2. QuestionHow long does the effect last?
    AnswerUsually around a year to eighteen months. The threads are absorbed, but the collagen built along them sustains the result long after they've disappeared. A top-up is possible after about a year.
  3. QuestionWill Needle Shaping lift my sagging contour?
    AnswerIt won't lift significantly sagging tissue — that's what barbed (cog) threads or tightening treatments such as HIFU are for. Needle Shaping works on skin firmness, density and subtle contour, not a strong lift.
