A treatment room at J'adoreMASSAGE & SPA (~30)
Stiff neck, "blocked" hips, a body tense from sitting and training that a classic massage on a table just doesn't reach. Thai massage takes a different path — we perform it without oil, in comfortable clothing, often on a mat, combining pressure along the body's energy lines with acupressure and passive stretching in yoga-like positions.
This is why it is called "lazy yoga": the therapist positions and stretches your body while you simply breathe. The result is paradoxical — tense muscles release, mobility and oxygenation return, yet you leave more energised than sleepy. It is a dynamic massage, stronger in character than classic relaxation. At J'adore Instytut, it is performed by a masseur / therapist. Below you will find everything worth knowing before your first visit.
single visit or a regular series for the body
How it works
Thai massage differs from what most of us associate with a "regular massage". We perform it without oil and in comfortable clothing, usually on a mat — because instead of stroking oiled skin, the therapist presses the body along the so-called energy lines (sen), uses acupressure (hands, thumbs, elbows, sometimes feet) and guides you through a series of passive stretches in yoga-like positions.
Hence the popular name "lazy yoga": the entire effort of stretching is taken on by the masseur, and you just breathe and let go. The result? Tense muscles relax, mobility and range of motion return, the body is oxygenated — and you, paradoxically, feel energised rather than sleepy. This is what distinguishes Thai from relaxation massage, after which you usually just want to fall asleep.

Interesting fact: Thai massage is traditionally performed on the floor, on a mat, not on a table — this is not a whim, but a condition of the technique. Only by having full freedom of movement and access to the entire body can the therapist safely place you in stretching positions that simply cannot be performed on a narrow table.
Ideal for
Thai massage is done without oil, in clothing, and combines pressure with passive stretching — it is dynamic and energising. Classic and relaxation massage are performed with oil, on a table, with pressure focused on the muscles — relaxation calms and induces sleep. If you are just starting your adventure with massage or are looking for deep work on a single, "hard" knot of tension, check out the classic massage and sports massage pages — we describe these paths more broadly there.
Women's zone and men's zone
Thai massage for women is often a way to "unlock" a body stiffened by a desk, phone and carrying a child — with an emphasis on the mobility of the hips, spine and neck. Passive stretching restores a feeling of lightness and a greater range of motion, while the dynamic character oxygenates and adds energy for the rest of the day.
The areas we support
Thai massage for men is a great choice for a body stiffened by strength training and sedentary work — tight hips, spinal erectors, calves and neck. Stronger pressure and deep stretching improve mobility and range of motion, which is especially appreciated by those who are physically active.
The areas we support
Energises, does not put to sleep: this is the most common surprise after a first visit. After a relaxation massage, you usually want to fall asleep, but after a Thai one — the opposite: thanks to the stretching, oxygenation and movement of the body, you leave feeling "awake" and light. That is why many people book it for the day, not just before sleep.
MASSAGE & SPA (~30)
Thai massage is safe for most people. However, it is more intense and involves stretching. In some situations, we postpone the visit or ask for prior medical approval. This is especially important where deep stretching and firm pressure could be harmful.
This is not an exhaustive list. If you have any doubts about your health, injuries, or spine, please mention them when booking or at the start of your visit. We prefer to postpone the massage or reduce the intensity of the stretching rather than work against common sense.
What to expect
The most common surprise for new clients: "I didn't know I would be clothed and that there would be so much stretching". This is the essence of Thai massage — we do not stroke the skin with oil, we work with the whole body. If a position is too intense, tell us immediately — the stretching should feel "good", never forced.

After the massage
Thai massage does not require recovery time — you return to your day immediately. Because it is dynamic and involves stretching, a few small things will help maintain the feeling of lightness and mobility much longer:
After intense pressure and stretching, reach for water and drink it calmly for the rest of the day. Proper hydration helps the body "complete" its recovery and reduces the feeling of muscle heaviness.
Thai massage has mobilised your body — keep it up with a calm walk or light stretching. Movement consolidates the regained mobility better than sitting down right after the visit.
If you feel a "good" ache in the stretched areas, a warm bath or shower in the evening will pleasantly relax your muscles and add comfort.
A heavy workout right after a session can re-stiffen what we have just relaxed. Light activity — yes; intense strength training — better left for the next day.
Returning to sitting for many hours quickly cancels out the regained mobility of the hips and back. Take short breaks to stretch out so the effect stays with you longer.
Alcohol dehydrates and has the opposite effect on muscles to a relaxing massage. For the full effect, it is worth skipping or significantly limiting it on that day.
Thai massage
These three paths do different things — and often complement each other beautifully. A short guide to help you meet your needs:
stretches and adds mobility
this is not a calming, "stroking" relaxation or targeted therapeutic work on a single muscle
relaxes muscles using oil
less stretching and mobility — it does not "open" the range of motion like Thai massage
deep work on the muscle
this is intense, targeted work, not stretching the whole body in "lazy yoga"
What to combine with
Thai massage fits perfectly into a broader "day for the body". The most common, natural combinations — details of each of these treatments can be found on their own pages:
It is best to decide on the order and intervals with the massage therapist on-site — we will arrange them so that one treatment reinforces the other, rather than tiring you out. General info on "what a massage is" and shared contraindications can also be found on the classic and relaxation massage pages.
A simple rule for choosing: you feel stiff and "blocked", you want to regain mobility → Thai. You have general tension and like the classic format with oil → classic. You have one hard, painful knot of tension or you train intensely → sports/deep tissue. In a series, they can be combined — we often suggest Thai for mobility and classic for calming.
Variants
Thai massage has several versions — they differ mainly in the distribution of accents (pressure, stretching, selected area), not the tradition of the technique itself. We choose the variant based on your needs; the therapist will also suggest it at the start of your visit.
A full, classic session: pressure along energy lines, acupressure and passive stretching of the entire body in positions resembling yoga.
Dla kogoWhen you want to experience Thai massage "in full" and comprehensively loosen up a tight body.
A variant with a stronger emphasis on passive stretching and work on the range of motion — the most "lazy yoga".
Dla kogoFor those who train and those most troubled by stiffness and limited mobility.
Focus on a specific, most tense area of the body instead of a full session from head to toe.
Dla kogoWhen tension accumulates in one place or you have less time, and you want to relax what bothers you most.
Fact: You do not need to know Thai names or techniques. It is enough to say where you feel the most stiffness and how much pressure you like — we will arrange the rest, including the choice of variant and the range of stretching, for you.
