A treatment room at J'adoreFACIAL COSMETOLOGY
Grey, tired skin after winter, smog, air conditioning and sleepless nights — skin that looks fatigued no matter how much you've slept. Geneo (OxyGeneo) is a treatment that oxygenates the skin from within, not from the outside. It sounds like a marketing line, but the physiology behind it is real — the so-called Bohr effect: the capsule reacts with the gel to produce CO₂ on the skin's surface, and the body responds by directing more oxygen to those cells from its own bloodstream. In the same session, the skin is gently exfoliated (oxybrasion) and infused with ingredients from a capsule matched to its needs.
The glow effect is visible immediately — no redness, no flaking, no downtime. At J'adore Instytut, the treatment is performed by an experienced cosmetologist. Below you'll find everything worth knowing before your first visit.
visible after 1 session; lasting improvement after a series of 4–6 sessions every 2–4 weeks
How it works
Geneo (full name OxyGeneo) combines three things in a single treatment: gentle exfoliation (oxybrasion), internal skin oxygenation, and delivery of active ingredients from a capsule. A special "mushroom-shaped" head with an integrated capsule works on skin covered in an activating gel.
The key mechanism is the Bohr effect. When the capsule reacts with the gel, microscopic CO₂ bubbles form on the skin's surface. The body reads this as a signal and automatically directs more oxygen (O₂) to the area — from its own bloodstream. This is oxygenation from within, deeper than any oxygen product applied from the outside (oxygen applied to the skin simply doesn't penetrate it). This is a beauty treatment — non-medical and non-invasive — with no needles and no downtime.

Ideal for
Women's needs and men's needs
The most common goal is radiance, hydration and an even skin tone — "skin as if after 8 hours of sleep". Women often turn to Geneo before an important event (zero downtime) or as regular maintenance to keep their glow. This is classic Geneo for women.
The areas we support
Men's skin is thicker, oilier and has wider pores, on top of daily shaving and greater sun exposure. Geneo addresses exactly these issues: it cleanses, normalises sebum and oxygenates — and the result is visually neutral, with no sign of "having had work done". This is Geneo for men.
The areas we support
Fun fact: the term "Bohr effect" comes from the Danish physiologist Christian Bohr, who over a hundred years ago described how a rise in CO₂ makes it easier for blood to release oxygen into tissue. Geneo uses exactly this mechanism — cosmetology has simply "borrowed" it from a physiology textbook.
Safety
Geneo is a gentle, very safe treatment, but the result and comfort depend on a few things worth asking about at any salon:
At J'adore, the treatment is performed by an experienced cosmetologist, who first carries out a skin assessment and chooses the capsule. This isn't a "one procedure for everyone" — choosing the right capsule for your skin is what determines the result.
What matters is the original device and genuine, certified capsules stored as recommended. Counterfeit heads and "no-name capsules" don't produce the Bohr effect, and can cause irritation.
The capsule is chosen after analysing your skin type and current needs — not by guesswork. For sensitive skin, vascular skin or during pregnancy, the cosmetologist chooses a safe option or advises against the treatment.
Red flag: a suspiciously cheap "oxygen treatment" · A bargain price can be a first warning sign. Sometimes what's marketed as "oxygenation" is just spraying oxygen onto the skin's surface (not the Bohr effect at all), or it uses non-original capsules. You have every right to ask whether it's a genuine OxyGeneo system, which capsules are used, and who's performing the treatment. A good salon will answer without hesitation.

Contraindications
Some contraindications are permanent, others temporary — in the latter case, we simply postpone the treatment until the situation has passed.
From the cosmetologist's chair
The most commonly forgotten issue is cold sores. Clients often think, "It's only on my lip, and the treatment covers my whole face — surely that's fine." It isn't: an active virus can spread across freshly exfoliated skin. It's better to postpone by a few days and do the treatment once your skin is clear.
This isn't a complete list — we'll discuss your allergies, skin conditions and previous treatments individually during your consultation, before your skin assessment.

What to expect
Most importantly: the glow effect is visible straight away. This is one of the few treatments after which skin looks better immediately — brighter, hydrated, smooth. You can head straight to a meeting or apply makeup the same day.
Geneo is my first choice when someone says "I've got an important event tomorrow and I look like I haven't slept". It works straight away, and there's no risk — no redness to hide. But if the goal is working on hyperpigmentation or sebum, one treatment isn't enough — in that case, I always plan a series.
A single treatment gives you, above all, an immediate glow and hydration. Lasting results — brighter hyperpigmentation, sebum regulation, improved texture — build up over a series and require consistency.

Geneo and your lifestyle
Geneo has no downtime, so the list of restrictions is short — it's mainly about not irritating freshly exfoliated, oxygenated skin, and not removing its sun protection, during the first 24 hours.
One of Geneo's biggest advantages — you can apply makeup the same day, straight after the treatment. Skin isn't red or irritated.
Oxygenated, freshly exfoliated skin is more sensitive to UV. Apply SPF 50+ every morning, and avoid intensive sunbathing and sunbeds for a few days.
High temperatures and chlorinated water can irritate skin right after the treatment. It's best to put off the sauna, hammam and pool for a day.
After Geneo, skin absorbs intensely — hold off on strong acids (AHA/BHA) and strong home peels for 3–5 days, so you don't dry it out or irritate it.
Pause retinol and strong active serums for a few days after the treatment. Return to them once your skin has fully settled.
Over the following days, boost the effect with a gentle hyaluronic acid serum and a moisturiser. Cleanse gently for the first 24 hours.

The information above is for general guidance only and does not replace a consultation. Geneo (OxyGeneo) is a beauty treatment (non-invasive, no injections) performed by a cosmetologist. The choice of treatment and capsule, the number of sessions in a series, and any contraindications are decided by a cosmetologist/specialist during an individual consultation, following a skin assessment.
