FACIAL COSMETOLOGY

Oxygenation and radiance
“glow right away”

Grey, tired skin after winter, smog, air conditioning and sleepless nights — skin that looks fatigued no matter how much you've slept. Geneo (OxyGeneo) is a treatment that oxygenates the skin from within, not from the outside. It sounds like a marketing line, but the physiology behind it is real — the so-called Bohr effect: the capsule reacts with the gel to produce CO₂ on the skin's surface, and the body responds by directing more oxygen to those cells from its own bloodstream. In the same session, the skin is gently exfoliated (oxybrasion) and infused with ingredients from a capsule matched to its needs.

The glow effect is visible immediately — no redness, no flaking, no downtime. At J'adore Instytut, the treatment is performed by an experienced cosmetologist. Below you'll find everything worth knowing before your first visit.

  • Grey, tired skin
  • Dehydrated, dry skin
  • Uneven skin tone and mild hyperpigmentation
  • Oily, combination and acne-prone skin
  • Urban, polluted skin
  • Mature skin in need of regeneration
  • Skin before an important event
  • Sensitive and vascular skin
  • Skin preparation

How it works

How it works

Geneo (full name OxyGeneo) combines three things in a single treatment: gentle exfoliation (oxybrasion), internal skin oxygenation, and delivery of active ingredients from a capsule. A special "mushroom-shaped" head with an integrated capsule works on skin covered in an activating gel.

The key mechanism is the Bohr effect. When the capsule reacts with the gel, microscopic CO₂ bubbles form on the skin's surface. The body reads this as a signal and automatically directs more oxygen (O₂) to the area — from its own bloodstream. This is oxygenation from within, deeper than any oxygen product applied from the outside (oxygen applied to the skin simply doesn't penetrate it). This is a beauty treatment — non-medical and non-invasive — with no needles and no downtime.

Three levels of skin in cross-section: the stratum corneum right at the top, the sebaceous gland openings within the epidermis beneath it, and deepest of all the dermis. A reaction taking place on the surface of the skin exfoliates the stratum corneum and oxygenates the epidermis from within. The treatment works at the surface — it does not go below the epidermis.
  1. Stratum corneumdead skin lifted during the treatment
  2. Sebaceous gland openingwhere the congestion is cleared from
  3. Dermisdeeper than this cleansing reaches

Women's needs and men's needs

What's different

For her

Geneo and women's skin — why the effect is visible so fast

The most common goal is radiance, hydration and an even skin tone — "skin as if after 8 hours of sleep". Women often turn to Geneo before an important event (zero downtime) or as regular maintenance to keep their glow. This is classic Geneo for women.

The areas we support

  1. glow before an event — a wedding, a photo shoot, a gala (Glam capsule);
  2. hydration for dehydrated skin and smoother texture (Hydrate);
  3. brightening hyperpigmentation and evening out skin tone (Illuminate);
  4. maintenance care once a month, including for sensitive skin.
For him

Geneo and men's skin — thicker, oilier, but not indestructible

Men's skin is thicker, oilier and has wider pores, on top of daily shaving and greater sun exposure. Geneo addresses exactly these issues: it cleanses, normalises sebum and oxygenates — and the result is visually neutral, with no sign of "having had work done". This is Geneo for men.

The areas we support

  1. shine and oiliness in the T-zone, enlarged pores (Detox / Balance);
  2. irritation and redness after shaving — soothing capsules;
  3. grey, tired skin from stress and smog — oxygenation and glow;
  4. zero downtime — you can shave the next day and return to work straight away.

Fun fact: the term "Bohr effect" comes from the Danish physiologist Christian Bohr, who over a hundred years ago described how a rise in CO₂ makes it easier for blood to release oxygen into tissue. Geneo uses exactly this mechanism — cosmetology has simply "borrowed" it from a physiology textbook.

Safety

What really determines the result

Geneo is a gentle, very safe treatment, but the result and comfort depend on a few things worth asking about at any salon:

  1. Who performs the treatment

    At J'adore, the treatment is performed by an experienced cosmetologist, who first carries out a skin assessment and chooses the capsule. This isn't a "one procedure for everyone" — choosing the right capsule for your skin is what determines the result.

  2. Whether it's genuine OxyGeneo technology

    What matters is the original device and genuine, certified capsules stored as recommended. Counterfeit heads and "no-name capsules" don't produce the Bohr effect, and can cause irritation.

  3. Whether there was a skin assessment

    The capsule is chosen after analysing your skin type and current needs — not by guesswork. For sensitive skin, vascular skin or during pregnancy, the cosmetologist chooses a safe option or advises against the treatment.

Red flag: a suspiciously cheap "oxygen treatment" · A bargain price can be a first warning sign. Sometimes what's marketed as "oxygenation" is just spraying oxygen onto the skin's surface (not the Bohr effect at all), or it uses non-original capsules. You have every right to ask whether it's a genuine OxyGeneo system, which capsules are used, and who's performing the treatment. A good salon will answer without hesitation.

FACIAL COSMETOLOGY

What to expect during your visit

  1. Skin assessment and capsule selectionthe cosmetologist assesses your skin type and current needs, then chooses one of the capsules (Detox, Revive, Glam, Hydrate, Illuminate, Balance). This is where the result begins.
  2. Makeup removal and cleansingthorough removal of makeup and sebum. This step is essential, since the gel and capsule need direct contact with the epidermis.
  3. Applying the activating gelthe OxyGeneo gel reacts with the capsule to produce CO₂ bubbles, triggering the Bohr effect.
  4. Oxybrasion with the capsulethe head gently exfoliates the epidermis, oxygenates the skin and delivers active ingredients. The sensation is a pleasant tingling, like a gentle massage.
  5. Optional infusion (Geneo+)in the ultrasound variant, serum penetrates even deeper into the oxygenated skin; there's also a variant with LED therapy.
  6. Sealing mask and SPF protectiona soothing mask and SPF cream. Skin looks great straight away — no redness, no downtime.

Contraindications

When to postpone the treatment

Some contraindications are permanent, others temporary — in the latter case, we simply postpone the treatment until the situation has passed.

We don't perform it
  • Active skin infection or herpes (cold sores)even elsewhere on the face than the treatment area. An active virus risks spreading, so we postpone until it has healed.
  • Open wounds and damaged epidermisin the treatment area.
  • Active inflammation and pustular lesionson the face.
  • Rosacea in an active flare, with numerous, irritated blood vessels — requires assessment by a cosmetologist.
  • Recent sunburn, and the period right after laser therapy or an intensive peel.
  • Allergy to ingredients in the gel or chosen capsule
  • Pregnancy and breastfeedingmost capsules require individual assessment; we choose a safe variant or postpone the treatment.

From the cosmetologist's chair

The most commonly forgotten issue is cold sores. Clients often think, "It's only on my lip, and the treatment covers my whole face — surely that's fine." It isn't: an active virus can spread across freshly exfoliated skin. It's better to postpone by a few days and do the treatment once your skin is clear.

This isn't a complete list — we'll discuss your allergies, skin conditions and previous treatments individually during your consultation, before your skin assessment.

What to expect

No surprises

Most importantly: the glow effect is visible straight away. This is one of the few treatments after which skin looks better immediately — brighter, hydrated, smooth. You can head straight to a meeting or apply makeup the same day.

  1. Faza 1.straight awayglow, hydration, smoothness — skin looks brighter and rested
  2. Faza 2.following daysfreshness and better skin hydration persist
  3. Faza 3.after a serieslasting improvement in skin tone, texture and sebum (depending on capsule)
  4. Faza 4.maintenancea single treatment every few weeks maintains the result
Geneo is my first choice when someone says "I've got an important event tomorrow and I look like I haven't slept". It works straight away, and there's no risk — no redness to hide. But if the goal is working on hyperpigmentation or sebum, one treatment isn't enough — in that case, I always plan a series.
From the cosmetologist's chair

What's normal right after the treatment

  • a gentle, pleasant feeling of warmth and tingling during and right after the treatment;
  • slight, temporary flushing in people with reactive skin — usually fading within a few to a dozen minutes or so;
  • a feeling of noticeably hydrated, soft skin right after leaving the salon.

A single treatment gives you, above all, an immediate glow and hydration. Lasting results — brighter hyperpigmentation, sebum regulation, improved texture — build up over a series and require consistency.

Geneo and your lifestyle

What you can and can't do

Geneo has no downtime, so the list of restrictions is short — it's mainly about not irritating freshly exfoliated, oxygenated skin, and not removing its sun protection, during the first 24 hours.

  1. Makeup

    possible straight away

    One of Geneo's biggest advantages — you can apply makeup the same day, straight after the treatment. Skin isn't red or irritated.

  2. Sun and SPF

    SPF 50+ is essential

    Oxygenated, freshly exfoliated skin is more sensitive to UV. Apply SPF 50+ every morning, and avoid intensive sunbathing and sunbeds for a few days.

  3. Sauna and pool

    wait ~24 hours

    High temperatures and chlorinated water can irritate skin right after the treatment. It's best to put off the sauna, hammam and pool for a day.

  4. Acids and home peels

    hold off 3–5 days

    After Geneo, skin absorbs intensely — hold off on strong acids (AHA/BHA) and strong home peels for 3–5 days, so you don't dry it out or irritate it.

  5. Retinol

    pause for a few days

    Pause retinol and strong active serums for a few days after the treatment. Return to them once your skin has fully settled.

  6. Hydration

    yes, regularly

    Over the following days, boost the effect with a gentle hyaluronic acid serum and a moisturiser. Cleanse gently for the first 24 hours.

Frequently asked questions

  1. QuestionWhat does "oxygenation from within" (the Bohr effect) actually mean?
    AnswerThe capsule reacts with the gel to produce CO₂ on the skin's surface. The body reads this as a signal and automatically directs more oxygen to the area from its own bloodstream. This is oxygenation from within — deeper and longer-lasting than oxygen applied to the surface, since oxygen from outside simply doesn't penetrate the skin.
  2. QuestionIs the effect visible straight away?
    AnswerYes. Glow, hydration and smoothness are visible immediately after the treatment — this is one of Geneo's main advantages. A lasting improvement in skin tone, sebum or texture only builds up over a series.
  3. QuestionHow many sessions do I need?
    AnswerA single treatment already gives that "freshness" effect. For lasting results, we recommend a series of 4–6 sessions every 2–4 weeks, followed by one session every few weeks as maintenance.
