Fractional microneedling RF (face) — treatment at J'adore InstytutA treatment room at J'adore

FACIAL COSMETOLOGY

Collagen from deep skin
“epidermis untouched”

Acne scars, enlarged pores, skin that has lost its bounce, a contour that starts to "slide" downward — these are structural problems. Cream won't fix them, because they happen deeper than the epidermis, in the layer where collagen-producing cells live.

Fractional microneedling RF combines two things in a single pass: micro-needles pierce the skin to a controlled depth, and radiofrequency (RF) energy is released at their tips — heat that deliberately and precisely triggers rebuilding. The epidermis stays practically untouched, so recovery is faster than after a classic laser. This isn't a treatment for instant results — it's an investment, and results build over weeks as the skin lays down new collagen. At J'adore Instytut, the treatment is performed by an experienced cosmetologist using Elysses DUO and INDERMO devices. Below you'll find everything worth knowing before your first visit.

How it works

How it works

Fractional microneedling RF (also known as fractional radiofrequency, or radiofrequency microneedling) combines two technologies you may already know from other treatments. Micro-needles pierce the skin to a precisely set depth — a mechanical stimulus, similar to microneedling. But at the tips of these needles, deep inside the skin, radiofrequency energy is released, warming the tissue locally. That's a thermal stimulus.

Two stimuli at once — puncture plus heat — trigger intensive rebuilding: the skin reads this as a signal that repair is needed and starts producing new collagen and elastin. Crucially, the heat reaches a specific depth rather than spreading across the whole skin surface. "Fractional" means we work at many tiny points, leaving untouched skin between them — this makes recovery faster and keeps the epidermis practically intact.

Three layers of skin in cross-section: the epidermis at the surface, the dermis beneath it, and deepest of all the subcutaneous tissue. Insulated microneedles pass through the epidermis and release the radiofrequency only in the dermis. The specialist matches the needle depth and the power to the area.
  1. Epidermisthe layer insulated microneedles bypass
  2. Dermisthe level the radiofrequency is released at
  3. Subcutaneous tissuedeeper than the microneedles reach

Worth knowing: in the INDERMO device, the micro-needles are coated in 24-carat gold and insulated — this isn't decorative, it's physics. The insulation means the radiofrequency only "switches on" deep in the skin, not at the surface. The result: the treatment is practically pain-free, there's no risk of "burning" the epidermis, and it can even be performed on darker or tanned skin.

Ideal for

Ideal for

  1. Acne scarsatrophic depressions of the ice-pick, boxcar and rolling type. This is one of the strongest indications for fractional microneedling RF.
  2. Enlarged poresespecially in the T-zone, on the nose and cheeks; lasting tightening and smoother texture.
  3. Loss of firmness and elasticityskin that has "let go", lost tone, and looks tired.
  4. Sagging contourearly signs of a blurred jawline and cheek contour; a subtle non-surgical lift.
  5. Fine to medium wrinkleson the face, neck and décolletage — smoothed through collagen remodelling.
  6. Uneven textureroughness, an "orange-peel" look, marks left by previous skin conditions.
  7. Stretch marks and scarsoutside the face (treated as separate areas) — striae, post-procedure scars.
  8. Preventionfrom around age 30, to support collagen production before the skin starts to visibly lose firmness.
  9. If your main concern is volume (hollow cheeks, deep static lines) or expression lines caused by movement, fractional microneedling RF isn't the first choice. In the "what works for what" section below, we explain why — and what works better instead.

The female zone and the male zone

What's different

For her

Your skin, not "the treatment effect"

For women, fractional microneedling RF is usually about improving skin quality and contour: tightening pores, smoothing texture, firming, and adding "glow" to tired-looking skin. Skin is thinner and more delicate, so parameters are set more cautiously, and the eye-area applicator is used separately, working much more subtly.

The areas we support

  1. pores and texture in the T-zone, a "well-rested skin" effect;
  2. firming the contour, neck and décolletage — a subtle lift;
  3. post-inflammatory scars and pigmentation from acne;
  4. prevention — supporting collagen before the skin visibly loses firmness.
For him

Male skin — different starting conditions, different parameters

Fractional microneedling RF for men most often addresses acne scars and texture — thicker, more "fibrotic" male skin responds even more strongly to the stimulus, so higher energy levels and deeper needle work are used. The goal: more even, stronger skin and a sharper contour — without a "done" look.

The areas we support

  1. atrophic acne scars — cheeks, jawline, temples;
  2. enlarged pores on the nose, cheeks and chin;
  3. uneven, rough skin texture after years of acne;
  4. firming the contour and neck after 35, when the jawline starts to blur.

From the cosmetologist's chair

The most common misunderstanding among men: "I want one session and my scars are gone." That's not how it works. A scar is a gap in the skin's structure — it needs to be rebuilt layer by layer, through a series, with gaps in between for collagen production. One session shows an improvement in texture, but real change in scars comes from the full series and several months.

Safety

What really determines the result

With fractional microneedling RF, the skin is genuinely pierced and heated deep within — so results and safety depend on three things worth asking about at any salon:

  1. Who performs the treatment

    This requires knowledge of skin anatomy and how to set parameters — at J'adore it's performed by an experienced cosmetologist, who assesses your skin type and scar depth, and sets the energy and needle depth individually. Poorly chosen parameters mean either no result or unnecessary irritation.

  2. Whether the cartridge is single-use and genuine

    The needles come into contact with blood — the cartridge (needle head) must be sterile and single-use: one cartridge, one client, one session. We use original manufacturer cartridges, matched to the area (a different applicator for the face, a different one for the eye area, a different one for the body).

  3. What parameters, and at what depth

    There's no single "RF for everything" setting. Needle depth, radiofrequency power and the number of passes are all set for the goal — we work differently on scars than on pores, and differently again for firming. That's why a consultation is essential.

Warning sign: a suspiciously cheap "radiofrequency for pores" · A bargain price can be the first warning sign. The most common pitfalls: reusing the same cartridge (a hygiene and safety issue), a treatment performed by someone without proper training on the device, or confusing genuine fractional microneedling RF with a plain, surface-level "needle-free radiofrequency" sold under the same name. You have every right to ask whether the cartridge is single-use, which device the salon uses, and who performs the treatment. A good salon will answer without hesitation.

FACIAL COSMETOLOGY

What to expect during your visit

  1. Consultationthe cosmetologist assesses your skin type and condition, scar depth, pore size and your goals, rules out contraindications, and chooses the device (Elysses DUO or INDERMO) and parameters.
  2. Cleansing and makeup removalthe skin must be completely clean, free of makeup and sebum.
  3. Numbing creaman important step. We apply it and wait for it to take effect (usually several dozen minutes) — this keeps the treatment comfortable.
  4. Fractional microneedling RF treatmentthe cosmetologist moves the applicator systematically over each area. The micro-needles enter to the set depth, and radiofrequency is released deep within the skin. You'll feel pressure, warmth and light pinpricks.
  5. Cooling and soothing maska compress and calming products immediately after the treatment.
  6. Regenerating serum and adviceyou receive specific guidance for the following days, and we schedule your next session in the series.

The whole visit usually takes about an hour — much of that time is the numbing cream taking effect. The applicator work itself takes ten to several dozen minutes, depending on the size of the area.

Contraindications

When to postpone the treatment

Some contraindications are permanent, others are temporary — in that case, we simply postpone the treatment until the situation resolves. Keep in mind this treatment involves microneedling and radiofrequency, so the list is specific:

We don't perform it
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Active cold sores (Herpes)even in a different location from the treatment area, not just on the skin being treated (for example, on the lips or inside the nose). Needling can reactivate and spread it — we postpone until it's fully healed; for recurring outbreaks, it's worth discussing prevention.
  • Pacemaker, neurostimulator or metal implants in the treatment arearadiofrequency is an absolute contraindication here.
  • Active infections and inflammatory skin conditions, open wounds, active inflamed acne in the treatment area.
  • A tendency to develop keloid scarsmicroneedling can trigger them.
  • Blood clotting disorders and anticoagulant medicationrequire assessment and often postponement.
  • Oral retinoids (e.g. isotretinoin)a sufficient break after finishing treatment is required.
  • Recent tanning / intense sun exposurejust before or after — raises the risk of pigmentation; we plan the treatment outside the season of strong sun.
  • Fever and general infectionwe wait until you've recovered.
  • Cancer / oncology treatmentrequires individual assessment and often rules out the treatment.

From the cosmetologist's chair

The most often overlooked issue: cold sores. "I've only got a small one on my lip, and I'm having the treatment on my cheeks — surely that doesn't matter?" It does. An active virus, combined with needling the skin, carries a real risk of spreading the lesions, regardless of where they appear. It's better to postpone by a few days and do the treatment on healthy skin.

This isn't a complete list — we'll go through your medications, health conditions, treatments and skin condition individually at consultation.

What to expect

No surprises

Most important: the real result doesn't appear straight away. Right after the treatment, the skin looks "stimulated", and the actual rebuilding — new collagen production — only gets going over the following weeks. The first improvement in texture appears after 2–3 weeks, and the full result builds over several months.

  1. Faza 1.day 0redness like sunburn, swelling, tiny needle points; skin feels warm
  2. Faza 2.1–3 daysredness fades, can be covered with mineral foundation; skin slightly dry
  3. Faza 3.up to a weekback to normal, light flaking — skin looks "everyday" again
  4. Faza 4.weekscollagen production gets going — first visible improvement in texture
  5. Faza 5.monthsfull result after the series — firmness, smoothness, shallower scars
Some clients tell us after two days, "nothing's changed, I was just red." That's completely normal — fractional microneedling RF isn't a peel that "brightens instantly". Here, we're planting seeds: the skin has only just started building new collagen. That's why we judge the result after the full series and after a few weeks, not the day after.
From the cosmetologist's chair

What's normal right after the treatment

  • redness resembling a sunburn — strongest on the first day, fading over 2–3 days;
  • mild swelling and a feeling of tightness, "warmth" in the skin;
  • tiny needle points — close up within a few hours;
  • in the following days, mild dryness and light flaking — the skin is renewing itself.

The result is biological and lasting — the new collagen stays in the skin for a long time. Natural ageing continues, though, so after the series it's common to plan single maintenance sessions from time to time.

Fractional microneedling RF and your lifestyle

What's fine, and when

After the treatment, the skin is microscopically pierced and warm — for the first few days, we treat it like freshly regenerating tissue. There's one rule: don't overheat it, don't irritate it, protect it from the sun.

  1. Makeup

    wait ~24 hours

    On treatment day, the skin needs to "breathe". Makeup (mineral makeup is best) is usually fine from the next day, once the needle points have closed. Brushes and sponges must be clean.

  2. Sun and SPF

    avoid for ~2 weeks

    This is key: avoid intense sun and sunbeds for around 2 weeks — fresh collagen and renewing skin are prone to pigmentation. SPF 50+ every day, no exceptions.

  3. Sauna and hot baths

    pause for a few days

    High temperatures increase redness and swelling, and the skin is already warm from the treatment. Sauna, hammam, hot shower — wait until the redness has fully gone.

  4. Swimming pool

    pause for a few days

    Chlorinated water irritates the micro-punctures and risks aggravating them until the skin has closed over. Skip the pool for a few days.

  5. Gym and sweating

    wait 24–48 hours

    Intense exercise and sweat warm the skin and can irritate fresh needle points. A light walk is fine; hold off on intense training for a day or two.

  6. Peels and retinol at home

    pause for ~7 days

    Pause acids (AHA/BHA), retinol and home peels for about a week — on fresh, renewing skin, they'll only cause irritation. Go back to them once healed, at your own pace.

Frequently asked questions

  1. QuestionDoes fractional microneedling RF hurt?
    AnswerWith numbing cream, the treatment is comfortable — you'll mainly feel pressure, warmth and light pinpricks. The INDERMO device also uses vacuum suction, which reduces pain, and its insulated needles mean the radiofrequency is released deep within, not at the surface. Most people rate the discomfort as low.
  2. QuestionHow long does the visit take?
    AnswerUsually about an hour — much of that time is the numbing cream taking effect. The applicator work itself takes ten to several dozen minutes, depending on the size of the area.
  3. QuestionHow long will I be red?
    AnswerRedness is strongest on the first day (like a sunburn) and usually fades within 2–3 days. From the next day, it can be covered with mineral foundation.
